PASSION TO PURPOSE

My grandparents both suffered from strokes, and our family faced enormous challenges in caring for them – physically, mentally and emotionally. 

One day while carrying my grandmother, her legs inadvertently tripped me, and we both fell. Luckily, the fall was broke with a soft surface, but as an engineer and businessman, I couldn’t help but wonder – what can I do to help?

After researching and interviewing guests on my podcast, “Mobility & Inclusion.” A guest suggested creating a tool that could pick things up from the ground, to help reduce the incidences of falling. 

With my knowledge in robotics, and engineering I partnered with those in the disability community, GRACE was born. GRACE is an accessible patented robot that is controlled using a handheld device to reach, grab and pick up items easily. 

My name is Harout Markarian and I am the Founder of MARKBOTIX. I BELIEVE AN ACCESSIBLE WORLD is an inclusive world. My passion for engineering and robotics may have started in the aerospace and defense industry, but after watching my family experience the enormous challenges with disabilities, I found my purpose in creating accessible robotics.
